Simple recipe with vanilla protein powder and Japanese green tea
With this matcha protein shake recipe, you can mix yourself a delicious and healthy drink in no time – with just two main ingredients: high-quality vanilla protein powder and fine Japanese matcha. Simply mix with your favorite milk – whether cow's milk or plant-based – and enjoy.
This shake combines the creamy sweetness of vanilla with the slightly bitter taste of matcha. You'll not only get an energy boost, but also valuable antioxidants and protein – ideal for muscle building, as a refreshing post-workout drink, or as a satisfying snack between meals.
Ingredients (for 1 serving):
-
1 measuring spoon vanilla protein powder (approx. 30 g)
-
1 tsp matcha powder
-
200–300 ml milk or plant-based milk
-
Optional: ice cubes, honey or agave syrup
Preparation:
-
Sift 1 tsp of matcha powder through a fine sieve into a small bowl to prevent lumps from forming.
-
Add some warm water (approx. 60–70 °C) and mix with a milk frother until the matcha is frothy and completely dissolved.
-
Put the matcha mixture, along with the protein powder and milk (200–300 ml), into a shaker or blender.
-
Shake or mix well until the shake is nice and creamy.
-
Serve with ice cubes if desired and sweeten with honey or agave syrup.
Tip:
A milk frother is great for dissolving the matcha – if you have a chasen (bamboo whisk) you can of course use that too.
